Stephen Adair Tolbert

Ft. Myers, Florida

What have I done with my life? Lord only knows.

I guess I'll start after graduation. I went into the U. S. Army to get my obligation out of the way. I was stationed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. After the army I went home to St. Louis, MO, since my parents had transferred there. I immediately went to work for a chemical company. I feel I was very fortunate in that the company would pay for my college if I would make a "B" or better. It was rough, but it paid off.

Then I married and had 3 children (2 sons & 1 daughter). My oldest son, Michael is a petroleum/ civil engineer, in California. My daughter, Elizabeth, is a social worker in Kansas. My youngest, John, is here in Florida and owns a property services company. I also have 2 grandchildren, Sydney & Ivan by John. Then after 21 years of marriage, I was divorced. I stayed that way for 9 years, until I was blessed by meeting my Judy. Our sons, who have been like brothers since junior high decided that Judy & I should meet and so we did and look what happened. We married in February 1995. So now I have 3 more children, Larry a career Air Force NCO, stationed in Germany, Lee, an architect in Columbia, MO, and Lisa, a product engineer in Lincoln, NE. Also, Larry has 4 sons, Joshua, Andrew, Michael and Joseph, so now I have 6 grandchildren.

I should also tell you that I joined the transportation industry. I managed several terminals over a period of almost 30 years. That's how I wound up in Columbia, MO. I lived there for 30 years.

I finally decided to retire in 2002. I wasn't really sure if I would like it or not, but found out that I don't know how I ever had time to work full time.

Then in 2004, Judy & I came to Florida on vacation and decided we needed to be here in Paradise full time. So, we moved here in May 2005. We absolutely love it here. We just wish we made this decision much earlier. We stay very busy doing all kinds of things. I try to swim every day. It's great exercise and hopefully keeps me healthy.

We look forward to seeing all of you on the big day. We have our airline tickets already. We will be arriving on Thursday, 06/12/08.
