Following graduation, from Henderson County High, college wasn't an option in our household. Being very poor in this worlds goods, (as well as many other graduates) our only option was to get a job before the ink was dried on the diploma. So, off I went the following week to the number one sweat shop in Henderson making 60 cents an hour. I worked at Bear Brand Hosiery for five years then for Southern Bell Telephone company until I was married.

I had met Calvin while in New Hampshire the summer between our sophomore and junior year at County High. Our paths crossed again in the summer of 1963 while attending a church function in Newburg, Indiana. We were married in May of 1964.

We have been blessed with a daughter, a son and six grandchildren. They all live in the Richmond area which is an added blessing to have them live close by.

Before Calvin's retirement we had the good fortune of being able to travel in connection with his work. The company being associated with ASTM and ACI allowed us to go places which normally we would not have been able to visit.

I have been blessed with being a stay at home mother and a homemaker all my married life.

In recent years, I had the pleasure of doing research for a friend who wrote a series of books. This allowed me the opportunity to dig into certain areas of history in Henderson and Richmond.

I have been able to return to Henderson several times a year since moving to Richmond. Henderson County, like all places has changed over the years and in some cases I can't say for the better. While home, I enjoy walking down Main Street and looking at all the beautiful old homes with few changes over the years. Going to auctions with my father has always been fun and interesting. If there are any auction enthusiast out there, my father is #13.

While reading the web-site, I have enjoyed many memories of my day of school beginning at Anthoston, then Niagara, Robards (how many remember the school burning down and we had to finish the year in the barn by the railroad tracks) and County High.

I hope you have a successful reunion and may you enjoy many more.

Thanks so much for the web-site. I appreciate the works that went into making this possible.
